NORTHBOUND DUTY

Every winter, the North Pole Delivery Service sends out packages.

Most go south.
Some go east or west.
One goes north.

This year, that delivery is yours.

Northbound Duty is a short, narrative-driven adventure about questionable decisions, bureaucratic nonsense, and a delivery route that stretches past common sense. You are given a sleigh of dubious reliability, a reindeer with unresolved feelings, and a package labeled “EXTREMELY NORTH.” From there, you proceed one encounter at a time—always north—making choices that shape how the journey unfolds.

Along the way, you’ll encounter:

  • A blizzard that has opinions

  • Penguins running an extremely serious toll booth

  • Mandatory reindeer therapy

  • And, eventually, The North itself

Each encounter presents branching choices that affect the story in subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways. Decisions carry forward: characters may follow you, judge you, or remember what you did. The journey always ends—but how it ends depends on what kind of traveler you were.

Features

  • Short, replayable narrative (≈20–30 minutes)

  • Choice-driven encounters with lasting consequences

  • Absurdist winter comedy inspired by classic adventure games

  • One-path journey with many possible outcomes

  • Multiple endings, including a secret one(Can you get #4?)

Controls

  • Mouse or keyboard

  • Select choices and proceed north

Notes

This is a small, self-contained experience created for the TriJam #350 game jam. It’s meant to be played in one sitting—and then replayed to see what happens when you make worse decisions.  Highly inspired by old Infocom and Sierra games.
